Some fascinating Covid data is coming out of Oklahoma. As former New York Times reporter Alex Bersenson has noted, Oklahoma is one of the few states that reports Covid data in roughly real-time. Currently, Oklahoma is reporting about 40 percent of residents are fully vaccinated.
The Sooner State's latest weekly report (ending August 1) shows 24% of those hospitalized with Covid were fully vaccinated. Moreover, the number of "breakthrough" cases has dramatically increased from seven reported cases in February to 1,565 breakthrough cases reported in July. Currently, Oklahoma is reporting 2,514 total breakthrough cases. Last, and perhaps most interesting, of those 65 years of age and older, the state reports 149 unvaccinated people were hospitalized compared to 114 people hospitalized who were fully vaccinated.
